Representative Text

1 Clovers white and clovers red
All the meadows overspread,
Buttercups of purest gold,
Heaven’s riches all untold.
Roses red and roses white,
Roses to the heart’s delight,
All the world to joy atune,
The joy o’ June.

Chorus:
The joy o’ June, the joy o’ June!
The joy of nature all in tune,
When God is near
In all we hear
And ev’rything we see;
The joy o’ June, the joy o’ June!
The joy of life in perfect tune,
When God in love
From heav’n above,
Bends down to you and me.

2 Fleecy clouds of snowy white,
Bathing in the sun’s pure light,
Hum of honey-questing bees,
Bird-notes ringing from the trees,
While the fragrant breezes bring,
Joy of ev’yr living thing.
Joy of nature all in tune,
The joy o’ June. [Chorus]

3 Children’s faces fair and bright,
Glowing with the heart’s delight,
Rip’ling mirth and happy song
Passing bird-land’s joy along;
Ev’ry heart a bit more light,
Ev’ry face a bit more bright,
Joy of hearts with God in tune,
The joy o’ June. [Chorus]
