Representative Text

1 God is my refuge, my fortress is He,
In Him I find there’s safety for me;
Following ever His pow’r I shall see—
He will defend my way.
Strength for my weakness He gives day by day,
Holdeth my hand lest sadly I stray,
Safe in His love I forever will stay—
Faithfully watch and pray,
Ever His banner above me is streaming—
Ever His mercy all brightly is gleaming—
God is my refuge no foe need I fear
Since He is my shield, I will be of good cheer.

Refrain:
God is my refuge, my fortress is He,
In Him I find there’s safety for me;
Following ever His pow’r I shall see—
He will defend my way.

2 He is at all times my helper divine,
Round all my way His glory doth shine;
Naught can discourage or make me repine
While I in Him abide.
He giveth strength that shall ever avail,
Trusting in Him my heart cannot fail,
Over my soul not a foe can prevail—
In Him I safely hide.
He will give gladness for sighing and sorrow—
In Him is hope for a joyous tomorrow—
He will dispel all my doubt and my fear—
His strength will not fail, He will always be near. [Refrain]
