God, Teach Us Peacemaking

1 God, teach us peacemaking, justice and love.
Blessed by Christ's teaching, we're lifted above
all thought of vengeance or envy or hate.
Help us, your children, shalom to create.

2 God, teach us peacemaking in church and home,
in school and all beneath Capitol dome,
in shop and industry, city and farm -
show us the pathways that cause on one harm.

3 God, teach us peacemaking in ev'ry role.
In each relationship make peace our goal.
Yet give us insight that keeps us aware
justice and mercy in balance to share.

4 God, teach us peacemaking unto the end -
parent or child, or as stranger or friend -
fill all our hearts with the pow'r of shalom,
living together, the whole world our home.
