During our last fund drive one donor said this: "I love hymns ... If you asked for money, it means you need it! Please keep the work going. And please, accept my widow's mite. God bless you."

She was right. We only ask for money twice a year, and we do so because we need it.

So, before you close this box and move on to use the many resources on Hymnary.org, please prayerfully consider whether you might be able to make a gift to support our work. Gott sei Preis und Dank gebracht

Gott sei Preis und Dank gebracht

Published in 1 hymnal

Representative Text

1 Gott sei Preis und Dank gebracht;
denn nun haben wir vernommen,
was die Sünder selig macht,
Gottes Wort, den Trost der Frommen,
Lehren, die zu guten Werken
unsern schwachen Glauben stärken.

2 Seine Liebe müsse sich
immer mehr uns offenbaren
und die Seinen väterlich
vor der Sündenlust bewahren,
daß wir uns von ihm nicht trennen,
ihn bis in den Tod bekennen.

3 Unser Denken segne Gott,
unser wollen, unsre Werke;
segne jeden in der Not
mit Geduld, mit Trost und Stärke,
daß wir, weine Sohnes Erben,
ihm nur leben, ihm auch sterben.
