During our last fund drive a donor said this: "Covid-19 rules prevent us from singing during my husband's burial service, so we will play the tune while we read the printed words or hum along with the music." Needless to say, this testimony struck us and stuck with us. We never know on any given day how Hymnary.org will be a blessing to people, but we know that around the world, the site is making a powerful difference in the lives of many.

Thanks to all who use Hymnary.org and all who support it with gifts of time, talent and treasure. If you feel moved to support our work today with a gift of any amount and a word of encouragement, we would be grateful.

What though my joys and comfort die?
The Lord my savior liveth.
What though the darkness gather round?
Songs in the night he giveth.

Representative Text

1 Her ei ties, her indvies,
Her indvies Gudsordets Hus;
Klokkerne ringe, Salmerne klinge,
Salmerne klinge mid Sus og Brus.
Her ei ties, her indvies,
Her indvies Gudsordets Hus.

2 Her skal grædes, her skal kvædes
Her skal kvædes hver Helligdag,
Taarerne rinde, Sorgerne svinde,
Sorgerne svinde til Guds Behag.
Her skal grædes, her skal kvædes,
Her skal kvædes hver Helligdag.

3 Her skal tales, klart afmales,
Klart afmales den snevre Vei,
Veien til Himlen, borte fra Vrimlen,
Borte fra Vrimlen, som ser den ei.
Her skal tales, klart afmales,
Klart afmales den snevre Vei.

4 Hjerte-Savnet, Jesus Navnet,
Jesus-Navnet er Livets Ord;
Selv i en Hytte Englene lytte,
Englene lytte til det paa Jord.
Hjerte-Savnet, Jesus-Navnet,
Jesus-Navnet er Livets Ord.

5 Taarne glippe, Kirkens Klippe,
Kirkens Klippe er Kristus selv;
Duggen i Dalen, Helligaands-Talen
Helligaands-Talen er Klippens Elv,
Taarne glippe, Kirkens Klippe,
Kirkens Klippe er Kristus selv.

6 Aldrig rygges, hvad som bygges,
Hvad som bygges paa Klippens Grund;
Stormene suse, Bølgerne bruse,
Bølgerne bruse forgjæves kun.
Aldrig rygges, hvad som bygges,
Hvad som bygges paa Klippens Grund.

7 Fred med Huset, gjennemsuset,
Gjennemsuset af Herrens Røst!
Altid herinde Hjerterne finde,
Hjerterne finde en evig Trøst!
Fred med Huset, gjennemsuset,
Gjennemsuset af herrens Røst!
