How Could I Calmly Slumber?

How could I calmly slumber

Published in 1 hymnal

Representative Text

[1] How could I calmly slumber
In darkest night,
Did I not with Thee, Father,
In pray'r unite?
The day's affairs all trouble
My heart and mind.
In pray'r with Thee, my Savior,
Sweet rest I find.

[2] My imperfections cover,
Yah, with Thy grace;
For Thou art love and patience:
Dost all embrace.
O give me, blessed Savior,
A heart that's true,
That I, in joy or sorrow,
Thy will may do.

[3] Help me to be forgiving,
Just as Thou art;
A love like Thine for others,
To me impart.
Then, no more sad or anxious,
I'll go to sleep,
And while sweet dreams surround me,
Thou wilt me keep.
