The watchful guard

I belong to the guards, the guards of the King

Tune: [I belong to the guards, the guards of the King]

Representative Text

1 I belong to the guards, the guards of the King,
I will serve with a purpose true,
While I march on the way and praises I sing
I will mind what I say and do.

Refrain:
I belong to the watchful guard,
I belong to the watchful guard,
I will mind what I do, keeping faithful and true,
I belong to the watchful guard!

2 I will guard well my lips lest wrong I should speak,
Use my tongues for the good and pure,
Speak a message of cheer to those who are weak,
Helping others more joy procure. [Refrain]

3 And my feet I will guard lest far I should stray
From the path of the truth and right,
I will follow His footprints all of the way
Showing others the pathway bright! [Refrain]

4 Thus in all I shall say, in all that I do,
Though the way may at times seem hard,
By His grace I’ll remain a sentinel true,
I belong to the watchful guard! [Refrain]
