If I Had Been a Shepherd

Representative Text

1 If I had been a shepherd, could I have seen his star,
How grateful would my heart have been could I have traveled far
To worship at the stable,
To lowly bow the knee,
And with the wise Men enter the newborn King to see.

2 If I had been a shepherd on that first Christmas Day,
Oh, how I would have loved that tiny baby on the hay;
But since I'm living now, not then,
My life to him I'll give,
I'll show him that I love him by the kind of life I live.
