Ida Belle Blough Snavely was born in Waterloo, Iowa. She attended Mt. Morris College for four years and Bethany Biblical Seminary, Chicago for one year. She taught school for three years in the Orange township school and did city mission work in Waterloo for three years. She married Everett H. Snavely in 1918 and they farmed together for 29 years in Orange township. She was a member of the South Waterloo Church of the Brethren.
