During our last fund drive a donor said this: "Covid-19 rules prevent us from singing during my husband's burial service, so we will play the tune while we read the printed words or hum along with the music." Needless to say, this testimony struck us and stuck with us. We never know on any given day how Hymnary.org will be a blessing to people, but we know that around the world, the site is making a powerful difference in the lives of many.

Thanks to all who use Hymnary.org and all who support it with gifts of time, talent and treasure. If you feel moved to support our work today with a gift of any amount and a word of encouragement, we would be grateful.

What though my joys and comfort die?
The Lord my savior liveth.
What though the darkness gather round?
Songs in the night he giveth.

Representative Text

1 Jeg gaar til fjerne Lande
Nu over store Vande
Udi mit Kald og Stand;
Guds Miskund skal mig følge
Paa land saavelsom Bølge
I alt det, som mig tjene kan.

2 Lad Stormen kun suse,
Jeg er dog vel til Huse,
Min Jesus er hos mig;
Han hjælper i al Fare,
Han kan mig vel bevare
Med Sjæl og Legeme hos sig.

3 Sin Engel han mig sender,
Det Onde fra mig vender,
At intet skade kan,
Han med os monne være;–
Saa langt vi komme ere
Ved ham, og vide ei hvordan!

4 Jeg vaager eller sover,
Med Gud jeg al ting vover,
Og freidig til alt gaar,
Han mig paa Arme bærer,
Hans Aand mig ogsaa lærer
Al Tid at trøstes ved hans Ord.

5 Jeg vil mig overgive
I Døden som i Live
Til Herrens Miskundhed;
Vil han i Dag, i Morgen,–
Paa ham jeg kaster Sorgen,
Han kjender rette Stund og Sted.

6 Imidlertid han Mine
Beskjærme vil som Sine
Og tage vil i Agt;
Han for os alle raade,
Og fri os af al Vaade
Med sin den stærke Frelser-Magt!

7 Saa gaar jeg nu til Hvile,
Min Sjæl, du være stille,
Og læg dig i Guds Favn!
Gud Fader i det Høie
Paa dig har vendt sit Øie,
Saa hvil da trygt i Jesu Navn!
