Junto Ao Trono

Representative Text

1 Junto ao trono de Deus, preparado,
Há, cristão, um lugar para ti;
Há prazeres, há gozo exaltado;
Há delícias profusas ali.
Sim, ali, sim, ali,
De Seus anjos fiéis rodeado,
Numa esfera de glória e de luz,
Junto a Deus já te espera Jesus.

2 Os encantos da terra não podem
Dar ideia do gozo dali;
Se na terra os prazeres acodem,
São prazeres que findam aqui.
Mas ali, mas ali,
As venturas eternas concorrem
Com a vida perpétua na luz
A tornar-te feliz com Jesus.

3 Conservemos em nossa lembrança
As riquezas do lindo país
E guardemos conosco a esperança
De uma vida melhor, mais feliz.
Pois dali, pois dali,
Uma voz verdadeira não cansa
De ofertar-nos, do reino da luz,
O poder protetor de Jesus.

The original has 6 st. and was composed after reading ‘Bridges on the 119th Psalm' (on ver. 44, p. 116), ‘We speak of heaven, but oh! to be there.' . . . Already deservedly a favourite, new interest will be added to this hymn when we know that the authoress was early called to ‘the realms of the blest,' o… Go to person page >
