[St. John the Evangelist.] Written Dec. 27, 1819, and first published in his Christian Year, 1827, in 6 stanzas of 6 lines, and based upon St. John xxi. 21, 22. It is given in several hymnbooks, but usually in an abbreviated form. In the American Plymouth Collection, 1855, No. 858, stanzas iv.-vi. are given as "Gales from heaven, if so He will."
