Herbert Grieb is organist and director of music at the Episcopal Church of the Advent in Birmingham, Alabama. He has served in this ministry since 1926. He is also organist and director of music at Temple Emanu-el of Birmingham where he has served since 1937. His is a native of Syracuse, New York, where he attended the secondary schools and Syracuse University. He has also studied at the University of Buffalo. Through the years he has been keenly interested in writing music and has had nearly 150 compositions published including anthems, cantatas and organ works. --Ten New Hymns on the Ministry, 1966.
