We don't often ask for money. Just twice a year. This is one of those times.

So, please, before you hit the "close" button on this box, would you consider a donation to keep Hymnary.org going?

In April 2020, according to Google Analytics, our Hymnary website had roughly 1.5 million sessions from approximately 1 million users. Both numbers were up 40% from April 2019. Amazing. And what a blessing! But it is expensive to serve all of these people -- worship leaders, hymnologists, hymn lovers and more -- people like you who love hymns.

And we have limited sources of revenue. This fund drive is one critical source.

So if you benefit from Hymnary.org, would you please consider a donation today? Even small amounts help, and they also let us know you're behind us and support what we do.

You can make your tax-deductible contribution by sending a check to Hymnary.org at 3201 Burton SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546, or you can click the Donate button below.

1 Nu lader os fremtræde
Med Takkesang og Glæde
For Herren, som os Livet
Og meget Godt har givet.

2 Et Aar vi saa hensvinde,
Det kalder os til Minde
De mange gode Gaver,
Som Gud os givet haver.

3 Som Mødre til de Spæde
Henile, naar de græde,
Og dem i Nød og Fare
Med største Flid bevare;

4 Saaledes Gud beskjærmer
Sit Folk, naar Angst sig nærmer;
Tidt, før vi Faren kjender,
Hans Hænder den bortvender.

5 Du, som vort Liv bevarer,
Fra Aar til Aar os sparer,
Ak, lukte du dig Øie,
Forgjæves var vor Møie!

6 Du har din store Naade
Mod os saa overmaade
Hver Morgen villet vise,
Derfor vi dig nu prise.

7 Mens her endnu vi trænges,
Lad efter dig os længes,
For Alting du os give
Med Taal hos dig at blive!

8 Du paa din Vei os føre,
Velsigne, hvad vi gjøre,
Som Naadens Sol du glæde
De Gamle med de Spæde!

9 Men fremfor Alt, o Herre!
Din Aand lad hos os være,
Han her for dig os pryde,
Til vi os hjemme fryde!

10 Giv os til Nytaarsgave,
Hvad vi nu bedet have!
O du, vort Liv i Live,
Vi i din Haand os give!

Lubben, Germany, 1676), famous author of Lutheran evangelical hymns, studied theology and hymnody at the University of Wittenberg and then was a tutor in Berlin, where he became friends with Johann Crüger. He served the Lutheran parish of Mittenwalde near Berlin (1651-1657) and the great St. Nicholas' Church in Berlin (1657-1666). Friederich William, the Calvinist elector, had issued an edict that forbade the various Protestant groups to fight each other. Although Gerhardt did not want strife between the churches, he refused to comply with the edict because he thought it opposed the Lutheran "Formula of Concord," which condemned some Calvinist doctrines.
