Shouting Up the King's Highway

Representative Text

1. Oh! a glorious time is coming,
When the Lord descends the skies,
And the trump of God proclaims the judgment day;
Yes, the saints of all the ages
With the living shall arise,
And go shouting up the King’s highway!

Refrain

There’ll be shouting up the King’s highway;
There’ll be shouting up the King’s highway;
In possession of the promise,
"With the Lord for aye to be,"
There’ll be shouting up the King’s highway!

2. ’Tis a blessèd hope and promise
That our Lord will come again,
King of kings and Lord of lords to reign for aye;
Then we’ll rise to life eternal,
Fraught with joy that ne’er shall wane,
And go shouting up the King’s highway!

Refrain

3. That will be a grand reunion,
When our Savior shall appear,
With a host of mighty angels on that day;
Yes, we’ll join the heav’nly chorus,
With our friends we love so dear,
And go shouting up the King’s highway!

Refrain
