Hope, Alexander James Beresford, LL.D., born Jan. 25, 1820, educated at Trinity College, Cambridge, was M.P. for his University for several years, and died Oct. 20, 1887. He is connected with hymnology through his Hymns of the Church, literally translated, for the use of English Congregations, Lond., J. & F. Rivington. 1844. None of these translations have come into common use.
