Christmas Carol

Representative Text

1 On a blessed Christmas night,
Nineteen hundred years agone,
Came the Lord of life and light,
Came to earth God's blessed Son.
Then the holy angels sang,
Sang above the Christ-child'shead,
Then the glory anthems rang,
Rang above His manger bed.

Refrain:
Glory, glory be to God in the highest!
Glory, glory be to God most high!
Peace, peace on earth, good will to men!
Glory be to God in the highest!
Glory be to God most high,
Peace, peace on earth, good will,
Good will to men.

2 Bending low with joyful fear,
Shepherds knelt with one accord;
Sages from afar drew near,
To view the face of their dear Lord.
Blessed be the Chrstmas tide,
Blessed be the dying year,
When our passing joys abide,
Blessed be the drawing near. [Refrain]

3 Blessed be the old and gray,
Waiting for God's harvest time;
Blessed by the young and gay
Through life's ev'ry Christmas time.
Till with heaven's white-robed throng,
And with angels' sweet accord,
We shall sing the Christmas song
In the presence of our Lord. [Refrain]
