Hymnary Friends,

As our fall/winter fund drive winds down, please consider a gift today to support the work of Hymnary.org. We're behind where we have been in past years with this drive, and we are hoping to catch up a little between now and January 1, 2019!

Please know that we want to keep Hymnary (the most complete database of North American hymnody on the planet) going for many years to come. Your donations help us do that. Even small amounts help, and they also let us know you're behind us and support what we do.

Click the Donate button below to be taken to a secure giving site. Or you can make your tax-deductible contribution by sending a check to Hymnary.org at 3201 Burton SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546.

On behalf of the entire Hymnary.org team, our thanks.
Harry Plantinga

Representative Text

1 Over alle Jordens Lande
Kristi Røst gaar frem med Sier,
Som en Lyd af mange Vande,
Som et Aandens Pinseveir.
Røsten fra den gode Hyrde
Aabner Livsens Kildervæld,
Fjerner Syndens tunge Byrde,
Frelser Dødens arme Træl.
Hvile byder den e Trætte,
fred til den, som freløs gaar,
Tungest Sorger gjør den lette,
læger alle Hjertesaar.

2 Herrens store Frelseplaner
Favner alle Folk paa Jord,
Eskimo og Indianer
Trostes nu ved Jesu Ord;
Og blandt Indiens Millioner
Samles de fortabte Faar,
Under glade Jubeltoner
Kinas Børn med Jesus gaar,
Herrens Naadesord alt peger
Ind i dybest Afrika,
Saa den arme, forte Reger
Jubler høit: "Halleluja!"

3 "Kommer I, som lide ilde,
Og I skulle finde Ro;"
Dette Frelserord, det milde,
Vækker Hjerter til at tro,
Og de kommer, ja, de ile,
Snart al Jordens Folkeslag
Under Korset finde Hvile,
Ja, det gry'r ad evig Dag;
Hør, hvor Jublens Bølger stige
Mægtig fra den frelste Jord!
Kristus feirer og hans rige
Blot ved Kraften af hans Ord!

In some hymnals, the editors noted that a hymn's author is unknown to them, and so this artificial "person" entry is used to reflect that fact. Obviously, the hymns attributed to "Author Unknown" "Unknown" or "Anonymous" could have been written by many people over a span of many centuries. Go to person page >
