Representative Text

1 Ring the merry, merry Christmas bells,
Ring them far and near;
Pealing over hills and dells,
Bid the world good cheer.
Golden hopes and mem’ries holy
Cluster round the manger lowly;
Ring the bells, ring the bells,
Ring the merry bells.

Refrain:
Bells of love and peace and gladness
Charm away the tho’t of sadness,
Ring the merry, merry bells,
Ring the merry, merry bells.
Tell anew the dear old story,
Glory in the highest, glory;
Ring the bells, ring the bells,
Ring the merry bells.

2 Ring the merry, merry Christmas bells,
Wake the jubilee;
Hark, the blessed music swells
Over land and sea.
Tell the wondrous news from heaven,
“Unto us a Son is given;”
Ring the bells, ring the bells,
Ring the merry bells. [Refrain]

3 Ring the merry, merry Christmas bells,
Thro’ the starry night;
Ev’ry note the day foretells,
Noontide splendor bright.
Christ, the Morning Star, is shining,
Light that never knows declining;
Ring the bells, ring the bells,
Ring the merry bells. [Refrain]
