Loving and Giving

Representative Text

1 Teach us, oh, teach us the lesson of loving,
This is the very first lesson of all;
Thus by our lives may we ever be proving
That we have answer'd the Lord's loving call.

Chorus:
Teach us, oh, teach us the lesson of loving,
Teach us to give, as we freely receive;
Loving and giving, yes, loving and giving,
These are the lessons for all who believe.

2 Make us more loving, tho' all are not lovely,
Make us like Jesus, who loves to the end;
Seeking the sinful, the lost, and the lonely,
Ready to help them, and strong to defend. [Chorus]

3 Teach us the lesson of giving more freely,
All that we have to the Saviour we owe;
Oh, may we share it with all who are needy,
Doing the work of our Master below. [Chorus]

4 Loving and giving will bring truest pleasure,
Life will be full of the sweetest reward;
Thus may we lay up in heaven our treasure,
Entering in to the joy of our Lord. [Chorus]
