The Fading Day Adorns the West

Representative Text

1 The fading day adorns the west
And calls our waiting world to rest;
Thou Lord of light and all we know,
Thy calm and peace on us bestow.

2 O Lord, as silent shadows fall,
Thy loving-kindness shield us all;
And for thy children near and far
Set out o'er each a golden star. A-men.

3 Of thy protecting hand aware,
May all in sleep invite thy care;
And, strength renewed and darkness gone,
Behold with joy the light of dawn.

Amen.
