Jack Williamson Taylor was born in North Carolina, September 18, 1928, to Lou Taylor and Janie Williamson. Taylor began his music career as pianist for the Lone Star Quartet in 1944 on station WPTF in Raleigh, North Carolina. In 1951 became accompanist to the Stamps All-Star Quartet, and engaged in broadcast and concert work in Texas. In 1958 he married Betty Russell of Oklahoma, also a talented keyboardist. In time Taylor became a staff arranger and editor for the Stamps-Baxter company, eventually rising to managing editor, a position he held until the company was sold to Zondervan in 1987. Bill Gaither called him "the greatest gospel music pianist I have ever heard, and Jack W. Taylor was inducted into the Texas Gospel Music Hall of Fame… Go to person page >
