Full Text

1 There is One whose Name is my joy on earth below,
From his service I’ll never depart;
Where he leads I’ll go, full allegiance gladly show,
Christ is King, he shall reign in my heart.

Refrain:
Christ is King, is King of my Heart!
He shall reign alone,
Make my heart his throne,
Christ is King of my heart!

2 He redeemed my soul from the mighty pow’r of sin,
For my sorrow gave gladness and cheer;
Comes in wondrous love from the glory land above,
Through his Spirit to me draweth near. [Refrain]

3 I will worship him who has turned my night to day,
In his kingdom he gives me a part;
He shall have full sway, rule within my life for aye,
Christ is King, he shall reign in my heart. [Refrain]

Lizzie De Armond was a prolific writer of children's hymns, recitations and exercises. When she was twelve years old her first poem was published in the Germantown, Pa. Telegraph, however, it was not until she was a widow with eight children to support that she started writing in earnest. She wrote articles, librettos, nature stories and other works, as well as hymns.
