Representative Text

1 There’s a city on high, where the saints are at rest,
Not a sorrow or care ever troubles the blest;
’Tis the home of the soul, ’tis the land of the free,
City of the blest, let my soul rest in thee.

Refrain:
City of the blest, city of the blest,
City of the blest, let my soul rest in thee;
City of the blest, city of the blest,
City of the blest, let my soul rest in thee.

2 ’Tis a city of light, with its buildings so fair,
Many friends that I knew are now resting up there;
I shall see them, for they are now waiting for me.
City of the blest, let my soul rest in thee. [Refrain]

3 Let us walk in the steps of the Master so dear,
For the home is in sight, and the meeting is near;
I shall then be at rest, and from sin I’ll be free,
City of the blest, let my soul rest in thee. [Refrain]
