1 There’s a shout in the camp: “Keep the fires brightly burning
All the night long,”
That the lost may return to the fold of the Shepherd
From paths of wrong.
Refrain:
There’s a shout in the camp, Hallelujah!
Glory to God!
There’s an echo in heav’n, Hallelujah!
Glory to God!
2 There’s a shout in the camp for vict’ry is coming
O’er Satan’s pow’r;
Thro’ the word of the Lord we the battle are gaining
This very hour. [Refrain]
3 There’s a shout in the camp over sinners returning
Home to the fold,
From the byway of sin with its burden of sorrow
To joy untold. [Refrain]
4 There’s a shout in the camp, ‘tis a glad “hallelujah!
Praise ye the Lord;”
All who trust in his name shall receive His salvation,
‘Tis God’s own word. [Refrain]

At first he furnished compositions to the Hall-Mack Publishing Company, but soon became editor and manager, where he worked for 37 years. He felt he was serving God better in the gospel song writing business, than as a pharmacist. He published the following song books: “New songs of the gospel” (1900), “The service of praise” (1900), “The voice of praise” (1904), “The tribute of song” (1904), “New songs of the gospel… Go to person page >
