Though a Child I Come

Representative Text

1 Though a child, O blessed Savior,
Unto thee would I come,
Asking for thy loving favor
Safely to bring me home.

Chorus:
To bring me home to heaven,
Bring me home at last,
To bring me home to heaven,
When earthly life is past.

2 I'll obey thee, blessed Savior,
Wash my sins all away;
Rising from baptismal water,
Learning of thee the way.

Chorus:
To bring me home to heaven,
Bring me home at last,
To bring me home to heaven,
When earthly life is past.

3 Though the grave be dark and dreary,
Jesus lights up its gloom;
Earth-worn fetters can not bind me,
Since he has left the tomb.

Chorus:
To bring me home to heaven,
Bring me home at last,
To bring me home to heaven,
When earthly life is past.

4 When from heaven he was here,
And with us found no rest,
Soon as little ones came near,
He drew them to his breast.

Chorus:
So to our home in heaven
When this life is past,
So to our home in heaven,
He'll bring us safe at last.
