We don't often ask for money. Just twice a year. This is one of those times.

So, please, before you hit the "close" button on this box, would you consider a donation to keep Hymnary.org going?

In April 2020, according to Google Analytics, our Hymnary website had roughly 1.5 million sessions from approximately 1 million users. Both numbers were up 40% from April 2019. Amazing. And what a blessing! But it is expensive to serve all of these people -- worship leaders, hymnologists, hymn lovers and more -- people like you who love hymns.

And we have limited sources of revenue. This fund drive is one critical source.

So if you benefit from Hymnary.org, would you please consider a donation today? Even small amounts help, and they also let us know you're behind us and support what we do.

You can make your tax-deductible contribution by sending a check to Hymnary.org at 3201 Burton SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546, or you can click the Donate button below.

Vel den, der ved i Jesu navn

Representative Text

1 Vel den, der veed i Jesu Navn
At løbe ret vor Gud i Favn!
Han faar i Sandhed, hvad han vil,
Som Jesus selv har sagt ham til.

2 Naar Barnet til sin Fader gaar,
Hvor gjerne det en Gave faar!
Og skriger det i Hungers Nød,
Saa faar det jo et Stykke Brød.

3 Er Gud din Fader, tro ham til,
At han dig hjælpe kan og vil,
Men den, som gaar paa Syndens Vei,
Den hører Gud, vor Fader, ei.

4 Kun den, som Naaden fandt attraar,
Og Jesus i sit Hjerte faar,
Han kan alene bede smukt
I Jesus Navn med salig Frugt.

5 Saa bed ei med den bare Mund,
Men ret af ganske Hjertens Grund
Med Tro, og tvil saa ikke paa
Den Ting, du beder om, at faa!

6 Men, søde Jesus, selv mig lær,
Din Fader ret at komme nær,
At jeg kan altid faa ved dig,
Min Jesus, hvad der baader mig!

In 1684 he was appointed cantor and director of the music at the cathedral church at Bremen. He died at Bremen, May 29, 1722 (Koch, iv. 281; Rotermund's continuation of Jöcher's Gelehrten-Lexicon, iii. 1405, &c). Laurenti was one of the best hymn-writers of the Pietistic school. His hymns are founded on the Gospels for Sundays and Festivals, and they draw out the bearing on the Christian life of the leading thoughts therein contained.
