Fighting for the Right

Representative Text

1. We are soldiers fighting for our Lord,
We have enlisted 'neath his sword,
With orders from his written Word,
We are fighting for the right.
Our enemy is great we know,
But boldly to the front we'll go;
The host advancing overthrow,
We are fighting for the right.

Chorus:
We are fighting for the right,
In God we trust for might;
With him we go to meet the foe,
We are fighting for the right.

2. Not carnal weapons do we weld
In warfare on this battlefield,
Hope is our helmet, faith our shield,
We are fighting for the right.
Equipped with these we're sure to win,
To quench the fiery darts of sin;
From foes surrounding, foes within,
We are fighting for the right. [Chorus]

3. The powers of evil we'll assail,
Before its strongholds will not quail,
The arm of justice will prevail,
We are fighting for the right,
Each wile of Satan we'll defeat,
In combat, all his forces meet;
God on our side, he will retreat,
We are fighting for the right.

4. Our great Commander plans the way,
And goes before us in the fray,
His eye is o'er us day by day,
We are fighting for the right.
He knows his own amid the throng,
Thro' him the weak become the strong;
To him the vict'ry will belong,
We are fighting for the right.
