During our last fund drive one donor said this: "I love hymns ... If you asked for money, it means you need it! Please keep the work going. And please, accept my widow's mite. God bless you."

She was right. We only ask for money twice a year, and we do so because we need it.

So, before you close this box and move on to use the many resources on Hymnary.org, please prayerfully consider whether you might be able to make a gift to support our work. Wer kann, Herr, Deine Liebe fassen

Representative Text

1 Wer kann, Herr, Deine Liebe fassen,
wer ihre Tiefen je verstehn,
die Liebe, die Dich ließ verlassen
des Vaterhauses lichte Höhn,
zu tragen willig Schmach und Hohn
und unsern Sündenlohn!

2 Sind’s die Gewaltigen an Stärke,
die Wächter dort im Heiligtum,
sind’s Deiner Schöpferhände Werke,
die würdig künden ihren Ruhm,
der Liebe, die in bittrer Not
Dir bracht‘ den Kreuzestod?

3 Wer anders könnte sie erfassen
als Sünder, einstmals arm und blind,
die fern von ihr im Finstern saßen
und nun des Lichtes Kinder sind!
Wir preisen jubelnd ihre Macht,
die uns zu Dir gebracht.
