Representative Text

1 When Christ, the Lord was tried by Pilate
In Him was found no fault at all;
Yet he condemned and crucified Him,
Outside the gates of Zion's wall.

Refrain:
Oh! priase His name for such compassion,
His word now calls for you and me;
To come, accept His full salvation
And dwell with Him eternally.

2 And now I see my blessed Savior,
With thorns upon His bleeding brow;
Bearing His cross up Clav'ry's mountain,
To death His humble soul did bow. [Refrain]

3 When He, the precious Son of glory,
Was slain upon that awful day;
The temple's veil in twain was rended,
And heaven's sunlight fled away. [Refrain]

4 "My God, my God why hast Thou, Father,
Forsaken me?" the Savior cried;
"'This finished and to Thee my spirit,
I now commend," and Jesus died. [Refrain]

5 The earth did quake and graves were opened,
And saints came from beneath the sod;
The Roman captain feared and cried out,
"Surely He was the Son of God." [Refrain]
