When Samuel, the Lamanite foretold Messiah's day

Representative Text

1 When Samuel, the Lamanite foretold Messiah's day,
When angels brought glad tidings of great joy upon their way,
The wise men saw a wondrous star, a glor'ous heav'nly sight;
They traveled far by that great star, by God's own holy light.

2 And when they came into the house, the Christ-child they did see;
O'ercome with joy, they fell before Him, worshipped reverently;
Then offered they their gifts most rare, befitting Priest and King;
Gold, frankincense, and myrrh to Christ, the King of Kings, did bring.

3 For well they knew the prophecy, High priest of God His call,
And myrrh was for His burial, when Christ would die for all.
And angels once again appeared to guide them on their way,
Those ancient holy men of God, believers all were they.

4 As wise men we are led to Christ, to know Him as did they;
He is the promised Savior-King, the Life, the Truth, the Way;
We see His star though from afar, and we believe His word,
Fulfillment of the prophecies, Emmanuel our Lord.
