Representative Text

1 When you pass thro’ sorrow,
Jesus is standing close by;
He will cheer and comfort,
When he hears your cry.

Refrain:
Yes, Jesus is standing close by,
He hears every heart-broken sigh;
Then take all you burdens to him in prayer,
And he will answer your cry.

2 Is your heart sin-burdened?
Jesus is standing close by;
He will speak your pardon,
When he hears your cry. [Refrain]

3 When the tempter tempts you,
Jesus is standing close by;
He will quickly help you,
When he hears your cry. [Refrain]

4 Do not be discouraged,
Jesus is standing close by;
He will safely lead you
To his home on high. [Refrain]
