Representative Text

1 Why do I love Jesus?
Because He first loved me,
And gave Himself a ransom
From sin to set me free.
When all is bright about me
With hope and love and cheer,
I feel and see the halo of
My Savior’s presence near.

Refrain:
This is why, this is why!
Oh, it is so sweet to know
That He guides and keeps me ever,
For I love Him so.

2 Why do I love Jesus?
When clouds are gathering fast,
When waves are breaking o’er me,
And storms are sweeping past,
I stretch my hand to Jesus,
And lean upon His might,
And He so gently, safely
Leads me out into the light. [Refrain]

3 Why do I love Jesus?
Because ’tis sweet to know
He guides and keeps me ever
Thro’ all my paths below;
And that some day—O rapture!
I’ll join the choir above,
And sing with joy forever
The story of His love. [Refrain]
