Died: February 8, 1797, Leipzig, Germany.
Doles is remembered as a composer of chamber and sacred music. While a student at the University of Leipzig, he directed the city’s Grosses Konzert (later known as the Gewandhaus Orchestra). He served as assistant organist at the Gymnasium in Schmalkalden, and cantor in Freiberg (1744) and at the Thomaskirche in Leipzig (1755).
