Non-English hymns
These are editor errors. For the Malayam text the mistake was made in the first instance and saved to the authority. It was corrected it in the instance, but not in the authority (now corrected). For Fanny Crosby's texts I browsed through more than 3000 first lines to identify foreign language texts and then asked our tech staff to automatically set the texts in the authority to English. A handful of texts may have been missed.
Thanks, Dianne!
My apologies, I will correct both instance and authority in future cases like this I run across. I thought since there was only the one instance showing, the authority would automatically draw from it.
With Advent upon us again (already begun for those of us doing the full 7-Sunday version) I'm again noting that there's no way to enter a topic "Advent Candle-Lighting" in the authority for "One Candle Is Lit". If I search for "Topic: Advent Candle-Lighting" and "Texts" I get half a dozen or so hits, but not this rather basic one from the CH1995. And "Advent Candle-Lighting" is not in the list of Liturgical Uses, so that isn't a way to get it in there, though clearly Advent Candle Lighting is a liturgical "thing". I know about "One Candle Is Lit", so for me that's not a real problem, but people who don't know about it won't find it, and I wonder (worry, even) how many other hymns may be in the database that are clearly meant for use in "Advent Candle-Lighting" but are not coming up in my search results for this same reason.
