104. Lord of Eternal Love Am I

1 Lord of eternal love am I;
Though I may seem to pass thee by
I know thy pain and sorrow.
I only test thy faith in me,
My love will always be with thee
Throughout each new tomorrow.

2 A mother's heart hurts to the quick
When her beloved child is sick.
How could she e'er forget it?
She strives to help with word and deed,
Anticipates its ev'ry need;
Mere words cannot express it.

3 And should a mother's love grow cold
Yet I will never Mine withhold,
My love will falter never.
My word holds true eternally,
Not sin or death keeps Me from thee,
No foe this bond can sever.

4 A precious prize thou art to Me,
My hands reach out to comfort thee,
Forsaken thou art never.
My help is near throughout each day,
I'll guide thy steps, I'll lead thy way.
My love is thine forever.
