1 Praise we the Lord and bless His name forever,
Who, Himself the Gift and Giver,
Here with His flesh and blood our souls doth nourish,
That the inner man may flourish.
Lord, have mercy on us!
By Thy holy body, Lord, the same
That from Thine own mother Mary came,
And Thy blood, for sinners spilt,
Cleanse us well from all our guilt.
Lord, have mercy on us!

2 Thou into death Thy body, Lord, hast given,
Life to win for us in heaven.
No stronger love to Thee, O Lord, could bind us,
May this feast thereof remind us.
Lord, have mercy on us!
Lord, Thy love constrained Thee, for our good,
Wondrous things to do by Thine own blood;
Thereby Thou our debt hast paid
And our peace with God hast made.
Lord, have mercy on us!

3 May God bestow on us His gracious blessing,
That, in fervent love progressing,
We, as true brethren tenderly united,
Be to ev'ry good incited.
Lord, have mercy on us!
Lord, let not Thy Spirit forsake us,
Lest some baneful discord o'er take us;
Grant that Thy poor Church may see
Days on peace and unity.
