1 Ah! my heart was heavy-laden,
Burdened and distressed;
When I heard the Saviour saying,
“Come unto me and rest.”

Spoken to the weary sinner,
By the Lord above.

2 “I will carry all your burdens,
Lean thou upon me;”
Thus I heard the Saviour saying,
Words that set me free. [Refrain]

3 Take my yoke just now upon you,
Seek to learn the right;
For my yoke is very easy,
And my load is light. [Refrain]
