Text: | Lift Heart and Voice |
Author: | Irvin H. Mack |
Tune: | [Amidst a world of sin and grief] |
Composer: | J. Lincoln Hall |
1 Amidst a world of sin and grief,
The heart is oft bow’d down;
From Zion’s hill flows healing stream,
That can all sorrows drown.
O, that all men might know thy ways,
And homage to thee give;
That all might bow before thy throne,
That all might look and live.
Refrain:
All angels swell a chorus loud,
Let earth, let earth the echoes ring;
Lift heart, lift heart and voice,
Life voice with one accord,
Sing praise to our King.
2 Let not a single page of life,
For you remain a blank;
Let not a world of strife and sin,
Be one in which you sank.
But give to God who gave you all,
Some token of your praise;
Perform some little act of love,
The fallen to upraise. [Refrain]
3 When darkness spreads itself around,
And sadden’d is the heart;
When sorrow comes with heavy tread,
And all our joys depart.
‘Tis then we have a loving friend,
To cast aside our care;
He bids us lift our hearts from earth,
And in his gladness share. [Refrain]
