1 From bondage lately come,
Where death and darkness reign;
We seek our new, our better home,
Where we our rest shall gain.
2 There sin and sorrow cease;
And we (all conflicts o'er,)
Shall dwell and walk with God in peace,
Nor thirst nor hunger more.
3 There love unmingled reigns;
God, all in all, is King:
There we shall, in celestial strains,
With ransomed millions sing.
4 How sweet the prospect is,
It cheers the pilgrim's breast,
While travelling through this wilderness,
Towards that eternal rest.
