This would the Master know,
Asking again the question
Spoken so long ago;
Question of deepest meaning
Ponder it well and say,
Soberly, truly, brother,
Where is your faith today?

2 Where is your faith, my brother?
Do you in riches trust,
What will you gold avail you,
When you have turned to dust?
“Riches are not forever”
Thus do the Scriptures say;
Ah! in the great hereafter
What then will be your stay? [Refrain]

3 Where is your faith, my brother?
Lo you on self rely,
Hoping by good endeavor,
Pardon and peace to buy?
Not unto him that worketh
Promise of life is giv’n;
Never may human merit
Enter the gates of heav’n. [Refrain]

Dreaming that life is long,
Will you neglect salvation,
List’ning to pleasure’s song?
Oh, do not trust tomorrow,
For it may never come;

Christ is the sure foundation,
