He a veil of flesh assumes,
To destroy the powers of darkness,
Lo! our dear Emmanuel comes,

2 Now glad news of our salvation,
Angels to the shepherds bring,
Now we view the Father’s glory,
Shining in the infant King:

Who so loved our fallen race;
Sent His Son down from His bosom,
We admire the wondrous grace:

To receive all praise from men!
