122. The Promised Blessing

1. Our God shall pour on us a blessing,
To receive it there shall not be room;
And if we believe then right early
Upon us the blessing shall come.

Chorus:
He shall pour floods upon the dry ground,
He shall pour floods upon the dry ground;
And they that are thirsty shall drink of the blessing,
When he shall pour floods upon the dry ground.

2. Our God shall "pour water upon him,"
Who would slake his soul's thirst from above,
And the blessing from heav'n distilling
Shall fill each beholder with love. [Chorus]

3. "As willows by the water courses,"
"They shall spring up when he comes to bless;"
And "I am the Lord's," each redeem'd one
Shall gladly in that day confess. [Chorus]

4. The pray'r of the righteous availeth,
And the cry of the church must be heard;
And God to his faithful believers
Shall hasten fulfilling his word. [Chorus]
