| Text: | I am Hiding ‘Neath the Shadow |
| Author: | Anon. |
| Tune: | [In the secret of His presence] |
| Composer: | Chas. Edw. Pollock |
1 In the secret of His presence
How my soul delights to hide!
Oh, how precious are the lessons
Which I learn at Jesus’ side!
Earthly cares can never fret me,
Neither trials lay me low;
For when Satan comes to tempt me,
To this “secret place” I go.
Refrain:
I am hiding ‘neath the shadow
Of His strong and shelt’ring wing;
Earthly cares can never fret me,
Neither trials lay me low,
For when Satan comes to tempt me,
To this “secret place” I go.
2 When my soul is faint and thirsty,
’neath the shadow of His wing
There is cool and pleasant shelter,
And a fresh and crystal spring;
And my Saviour rests beside me,
As we hold communion sweet.
If I tried, I could not utter
What He says when thus we meet. [Refrain]
3 When the years of life are pressing,
‘Neath that shelter find me room;
There is ample shade, refreshing
All the weary who shall come.
Blessed Saviour, there provide me
Where my burden I may hide;
Grant me peace, and rest and shelter
For the coming eventide. [Refrain]
