30. Consider the Lilies

1 Consider the lilies; they toil not,
They toil not, nor yet do they spin;
And still with a royal apparel,
They all their existence begin.

Refrain:
Behold the beautiful lilies;
They toil not, nor yet do they spin;
Yet Solomon, in all his glory,
Was not arrayed like these.

2 Fair lilies by Him thus created,
With beauty so wondrous to see;
A marvel of purity, yielding
An incense of sweetness so free. [Refrain]

3 Oh, how can we doubt our Redeemer?
Oh, how can our faith be so small?
We know that He cares for the lilies,
And notes if a sparrow should fall. [Refrain]

4 Oh, with our whole hearts let us trust Him!
Dear Saviour, we pray Thee renew
The faith of Thy children, and strengthen
Our souls for a service more true. [Refrain]
