94. He Gave Himself

1 He gave Himself for my redemption,
Laid down His life, to save my own;
No less a price could pay my ransom,
No other sacrifice atone.

Refrain:
He gave Himself, my precious Savior,
I never knew such love before!
Now He is mine, yes, mine forever,
And I am His forevermore

2 He gave Himself a free oblation,
He counted not the cross of shame,
To bring to me His great salvation
And life eternal thro’ His name. [Refrain]

3 “He gave Himself!” I read them over,
Those words that mean so much to me;
I strive in vain to grasp their meaning,
How love so wonderful could be. [Refrain]

4 He gave Himself! they mocked and smote Him,
And nailed Him there upon the tree;
He bore it all in meek submission
And died a sinner’s death for me. [Refrain]

5 He gave Himself! His love hath conquered
My stubborn will, my sinful pride;
My broken heart to Him is clinging,
Who for my sake was crucified. [Refrain]
