89. The Port of Peace

1 We are on the ocean sailing,
Toss’d on life’s tumultuous waves,
Night and darkness all around us,
While the tempest fiercely raves.

Refrain:
Soon the storms will all be over,
All our dark forebodings cease;—
Home at last, we’ll soon cast anchor
Safe within the Port of Peace.

2 In the lurid sky above us,
Faith can see no beacon star,
But our Pilot will convey us
Safely o’er the harbor bar. [Refrain]

3 Thus the Twelve, midst angry billows,
Struggled long on Galilee,
Till the Savior, roused from slumber,
Spake and calmed the troubled sea. [Refrain]

4 Let the storm rage ne’er so wildly,
Be the harbor far or near,
If we only sail with Jesus,
We have never cause to fear. [Refrain]
