25. The Hour of Prayer

1 My God, is any hour so sweet
From blush of morn to evening star,
As that which calls me to Thy feet,
The hour of pray’r, the hour of pray’r?

Refrain:
Lord, teach us how to pray,
Lord, teach us how to pray,
Lord, teach us how to pray,
Teach us how to pray.

2 Blest is that tranquil hour of morn,
And blest that hour of solemn eve,
When, on the wings of pray’r upborne,
The world I leave, the world I leave. [Refrain]

3 Hushed is each doubt, gone every fear;
My spirit seems in heav’n to stay;
And e’en the penitential tear
Is wiped away, is wiped away. [Refrain]

4 Lord, till I reach that blissful shore
No privilege so dear shall be.
As thus my inmost soul to pour
In pray’r to Thee, in pray’r to Thee. [Refrain]
