| Text: | Onward, Forward Saints to Zion |
| Author: | Amos Allen |
1 Mine eyes have seen the vision of the Zion of our God
To be builded in this sacred place where saints of old have trod;
And its glories shall shine forth from hence to ev'ry land abroad
When Zion marches on.
Refrain:
Onward, forward saints to Zion.
Onward, forward saints to Zion.
Onward, forward saints to Zion;
Our Zion marches on.
2 Here both rich and poor shall gather, for the Lord has giv'n command,
"Zion from her place shall not be moved" and here His saints shall stand,
Those who consecrate and serve Him as a true and loyal band
When Zion marches on. [Refrain]
3 Ev'ry man will love his neighbor and will strive for commonweal,
With the smile of God's approval and a fervent holy zeal.
And upon the true and faithful, God His promises will seal
When Zion marches on. [Refrain]
4 Then the Lord, Himself will come in light and majesty sublime,
And will mingle with the faithful in that grand and glorious time
And all those who've loved and served Him shall have joy and peace divine
While Zion marches on. [Refrain]
