212. Proclaim Messiah’s Reign

The merry carols rise again o’er land and sea
In jubilee, glad jubilee;
The hills and vales resound today with melody;
Our hearts respond in glee.
Once more that wondrous strain is borne,
From far away,
The joy-bells sway,
Ring out again their chime
And hail the blessed time,
Proclaim Messiah’s reign o’er all the world for aye.
List, again ‘tis ringing,
Angel voices singing,
Down the ages flinging
Golden notes of praise.
From that realm of splendor
Echoes pure and tender,
Praise forever render
On thro’ endless days.
Stars now trembling o’er us,
Sign of promise for us,
Heard that mighty chorus
Swell from shore to shore.
Lustre never failing,
Kingly advent hailing,
O’er the night prevailing
Glorious evermore.
